Video Card Update. Help?

I just downloaded MTGO onto my computer, but when i got on it was a little messed up. I got on and some of the typing bars went across the whole screen, and things were a little off, and some areas were blinking black. i talked to a moderator,and he said it was most likely a DirectX problem, so i updated the latest version of it. After i did that i looked again and it was the same thing. Then he said to go to my computer manufacturer to update my video card. does he mean to go o the website for gateway and update it from there? or do i have to go buy some 100$ video card.
