What are my rights as a renter about heating the home that has propane tank out side?

renting a mobile home that is heated by propane and the renter is leasing a tank from a propane company that charges $400.00 to deliver propane to the home and the are two other companys that dreliver propane in the area for 200.00. The weather got really cold didnt hve the money to have gas deliver and ask a freind to borrow a smaller tank the we could fill to heat the house and the landlord got piss and is kicking us out of the rental. Is the anything that says we cant do this to heat the home
