How do i fix my ipod?

i have the ipod photo 20gb U2 special edition. i broke the motherboard on my ipod, so i bought a replacement. originally, it had about 3300 songs on it. when i replaced the motherboard and turned it on, my ipod had no name, itunes wouldnt recognize it, and it wouldn't show the available capacity. actually it didnt show any capacity when you went to settings and selected about, the format was unknown with 0 songs on it. help?
