Is it still necessary to block crochet projects? I noticed the yarn label no longer has blocking instructions.?

I think it depends on what the project is for. If it's something that is going to be washed multiple times, that would take reshaping it each time. Items lose their blocking in the wash. If it's an afghan or scarf, I don't think it needs to be blocked either. Some people block everything and others don't. If it's a doily or a smaller gift or an article of clothing that will be sewn together, it probably should be blocked, but in the end, it's a matter of preference.
