A question about the constitution....?

All I can say that it proves that by force and war the U.S, has claimed victory, Now look at the terrible destruction during the civil war, on its own people , so nothing should be a surprise. I read somewhere that Lincoln had try for the presidency a few times before winning , also that he suffered from depression , could it be he was a mentally unstable man , in a thirst for power, fall who may fall?
